Torrent Pharmaceuticals Receives USFDA Warning Letter

Drug firm Torrent Pharmaceuticals has received a warning letter from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for its Levittown, Pennsylvania facility.

The Levittown plant was inspected by the USFDA from March 11 to April 9 and the warning letter was issued on October 28, 2019.

The warning letter points out sanitary deficiencies related to the water system, failure to thoroughly investigate failed test results, manufacturing of two misbranded and unapproved new drugs.

The Levittown facility was acquired by Torrent Pharmaceuticals through an acquisition in January 2018. The contribution to existing sales is expected to be minimal and the company is upgrading the plant.

The management said the company has shut down the facility as of March 2019 to undertake complete remediation and intend to complete it by March 2020.

Torrent Pharmaceuticals has not disclosed the warning letter to the exchanges as it does not contribute much in terms of numbers.-Cnbc Tv 18
