Unequipped hospitals can get free tests done from NABL-approved labs

The state governments, Mukhya Mantri Nishulk Nirogi Rajasthan Yojna (MMNNRY), have offered more assistance to people seeking free medical services. The health department has asked hospitals that do not have facilities for certain diagnostic tests to perform them at accredited laboratories by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) so that patients can receive free healthcare services under the program. Several hospitals, including Sawai Man Singh Hospital affiliated to medical colleges, do not have facilities for such tests. The most recent move by the health department would ensure that patients are not charged for these tests under MMNNRY, which became operational on May 1.

If facilities for those tests are not available at a medical college, hospitals attached to medical colleges have also been urged to obtain the tests from the NABL laboratory. The rates for the tests to be paid to NABL will be based on the rate set by the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).The health department has also encouraged medical colleges and district hospitals throughout the state to submit proposals for increasing the number of testing facilities as per their needs. They will forward the plans to the state council. Times Now Bureau
