Woodlands Hospital launches home care services

The Woodlands Hospital on Friday launched home care services that will enable people to seek a range of healthcare services at their home, services for which they usually have to go to a hospital.

The services include nursing care, physiotherapy and health check-up, among others. The services will be provided by healthcare providers from the hospital.

“We will provide a range of services to people at home. We have senior general practitioners who will visit a patient if they ask for a doctor’s consultation at home. If advised by the general practitioner, a specialist will also visit later,” said Rupali Basu, managing director, Woodlands.

The home services include a single visit by doctor, package consultation of doctor for upto five family members and post-operative care for 15 days. One can even hire devices like oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, Bi-PAP machines and nebulisers.

Basu said that they had run a pilot project of the home care services with 32 patients before launching the programme.

One can seek a 12-hour basic nursing care as well as seek a 30-day palliative care at home. The prices of the services will vary accordingly.

“The home care services will also free up some hospital beds. There are cases where elderly people get admitted in hospital only to receive IV antibiotics. We will administer the antibiotics at home. This will free up hospitals beds for critical patients,” said Basu.

The list of services that will be available at home along with the cost will be uploaded in the hospital’s website soon, said an official. Telegraph India
