SkanSiesta Pro

SkanSiesta Pro is a compact, easy-to-use anaesthesia workstation that delivers ICU-class ventilation for patients in the operating room. It does not matter if the patient has any pulmonary complications. He/she is treated with the same care as managed in an ICU ventilator. The user can choose either O2+air or O2+N2O as fresh gas and the system automatically compensates for it. The auxiliary flowmeter supports a continuous O2 flow up to 50 L/min, which helps to enhance O2 reserve in difficult-to-intubate patients.

SkanSiesta Pro is packed with volume-control, pressure-control, pressure-support, and volume-guarantee modes as standard with a comfortable user interface. All critical parameters, including plateau pressure, mean airway pressure, total/spontaneous respiratory rate, and minute volume are displayed along with pressure, flow, and volume waveforms/loops on a single screen. This helps clinicians to manage patients more effectively while performing various procedures during surgery.

The inspiratory and expiratory hold manoeuvres can be used to assess a patient’s lung dynamics to optimize ventilation parameters or to prevent artefacts during chest X-ray for precise diagnostics. The in-built cardiac bypass procedure aids in enhanced workflow during heart surgeries. A large 10.4” touch-screen graphics monitor, with a simplified menu structure, makes it more convenient to use the workstation for a beginner as well as for an experienced user. It reduces the learning curve significantly, and the effort spent in training thus helps to manage the OT more efficiently, when many anaesthetists and OT technicians are involved.

The small footprint of the workstation makes it more user-friendly to move it from one OT to another as well as to position the unit comfortably during surgery. The patient-monitoring arm provided with the unit supports various models of Skanray monitors. Any third-party monitor can also be placed on the top shelf, and can be conveniently viewed in a standing/sitting position. The multi-socket outlets provided on the rear side of the unit help to manage power to these auxiliary units. A 3-level brightness controller is provided for the workstation lighting to make it convenient for the user to illuminate the work surface, as required.

SkanSiesta Pro is available either with a traditional 5-tube flowmeter or an electronic flowmeter to monitor the delivery of fresh-gas flow. Apart from independently monitoring O2, air, and N2O, the electronic flowmeter module shows real-time O2 concentration, based on the fresh gas flow, and provides an additional alarm to the user in case of adverse hypoxia events.

The unit is available with 3-gas inputs as standard. Normally, O2 is used to drive the bellows for ventilation. If air is connected to the device, the ventilator switches automatically to use air as a drive gas, thus reducing the consumption of O2. Also, the unit is provided with 3-cylinder yokes as standard (O2+O2+N2O). An internal 3-liter O2 reservoir ensures a minimum backup of O2 is available during the changeover of the cylinders. The input pressure of both the central gas pipeline and the backup cylinders are displayed on the front side of the unit using independent pressure gauges. Additionally, a pneumatic indicator (independent of the electrical system) is provided as a safety measure to monitor the availability of O2 supply to the unit.

The connections to the auxiliary common gas outlet (AGCO), O2 flush, and CGO switch are positioned comfortably on the front side of the unit for ease of access. Three spacious drawers with locks help to keep all necessary things organized comfortably. The circle breathing system is sterilizable and provided with in-built inspiratory, expiratory flow sensors, an auto-bypass mechanism, and manual/ventilation feedback. Turning the bag/vent switch on the circle absorber automatically activates spontaneous mode on the ventilator. An anaesthesia gas receiving system (AGS) can be combined with the unit to dispose of the volatile agents outside the OT and make it safe for the clinicians.
