The Maharashtra state government has given the green light for the construction of a 700-bed multi-speciality hospital at Warje. Pune Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Vikram Kumar informed that soon the tender process will be implemented to build a hospital here on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
The proposal for the construction of a multispeciality hospital on a PPP basis at Warje has been approved by the Standing Committee and the General Body of the municipality. This proposal has also been approved by the state government and orders in this regard have also been given today (August 12).
Kumar informed that the cost of construction of this hospital will be Rs 350 crore and it will be built and run on a PPP basis.
He stated that after Covid-19, the need for health treatment facilities in the city was clearly demonstrated. Due to the limited manpower required by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), it was decided to construct and run a 700-bed hospital on PPP basis in the reserved area of the Municipal Corporation at Warje which will be the first hospital built by any municipal corporation on PPP basis.
For the construction of this hospital, a loan will be taken from Rabo Bank of the Netherlands at the rate of 1 – 1.5 per cent. For this, the municipality will be the guarantor of the concerned organization. If the concerned organization leaves the work halfway, insurance will be taken to avoid any problem.
In this hospital, beds will be available for treating patients sent by the Municipal Corporation at CHS rates and some beds will be made available to the concerned organization for treatment at open rates.
The responsibility for the construction of the hospital, the appointment of doctors and staff and treatment will remain with the concerned organization and the loan raised for this purpose will also be paid by the concerned organization. Vikram Kumar also claimed that the people of the western part of the city will benefit greatly if this hospital is built. Additional Commissioner Ravindra Binwade was present on this occasion.
