DHS Mon discusses quality healthcare

District Health Society (DHS) Mon held its review meeting on Thursday, in the conference hall of District Hospital Mon (DHM), wherein the members deliberated on effectively implementing central health projects to provide accessible, affordable and quality health care.

In a press release by National Health Mission (NHM) Mon informed that in the meeting, chief medical officer (CMO) Mon, Dr Vezokholu Theyo reminded the gathering that DHS under NHM objective was to provide accessible, affordable and quality health care to the population at the grassroot level.

Dr Vezokholu said one of the tools indicate the mission was being implemented successfully was through reporting system and lamented that Mon district was failing to report in a “timely manner”.

She asked the department to give due importance to Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal with “quality reporting” as the district ranking would wholly depend on the key performance indicators, which are in the HMIS reporting system.

On Village Health Nutrition Day (VHND), Dr Vezokholu said the district ranked in a good position in regard to collaboration with the anganwadi workers of social welfare department and appreciated the health workers for the same.

Earlier, chairperson of the meeting, deputy CMO Mon, Dr Rongsennungla Ao welcomed the new CMO Mon and said that the department would benefit from her “immense knowledge and experience”.

A PowerPoint presentation by Block Program Managers (BPM) on the 1st quarter FY 2022-2023 HMIS and issues and challenges faced by each block was presented during the meeting. Vertical programs of the department National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), Mental Health, Universal Immunization Program (UIP), Adolescent Reproduction & sexual Health (ARSH), School Health and National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) also gave a presentation on their performances and briefed on their programs.
