Telangana May Get More National Health Mission Money This Year

Telangana is likely to get about Rs 650 crore from the Center’s National Health Mission for the financial year 2019-20, an amount higher than last year’s allocation of about Rs 600 crore. At a high-level meeting held in New Delhi, health ministry officials submitted proposals for up to Rs 1320 crore, where the state’s share will be 40 percent and the Center’s 60 percent. After discussions, central officials were told to rework the proposal to the tune of Rs 1250 crore. The Center had last year decided to cut 2 percent funds to states on NHM, but that did not affect the devolution to Telangana. – TOI
